Alabama Police Department Data Breach (2014)

Lawrence County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Harold Knighten was convicted in 2014 of using the Law Enforcement Tactical System database to look up information on a man he suspected of having an affair with his wife. The Decatur Daily's accounts of the trial indicate Knighten parked near the man's mobile home and used license plate numbers to research people who came to the man's house.
