Works Bakery Cafe Data Breach (2013)

In a statement posted on the company’s website, Works’ founder Richard French writes, “I regret to inform you that, despite stringent security and precautions, we believe that The Works Bakery Cafe has fallen victim to cybercrime, a rapidly escalating crime against business. On or about January 14, 2013, we believe a malware program infected our point of sale computer systems. The Works Bakery Cafe does not store credit or debit card information; we believe that the malware was designed to gather the information directly from the cards as they were swiped.”
