Medicaid fraud indictment links suspect to Charlotte consultant - Townhall Enterprises A North Carolina man has been indicted on charges he used phony invoices to bilk millions of dollars out of Medicaid in some case three times the amounts his co-conspirators thought he was getting. Townsend, according to prosecutors, received billing spreadsheets from the participating groups. That gave him access to the names of Medicaid beneficiaries, their ID numbers, and the treatment they received. Over a two-year period, his markup amounted to millions of dollars in Medicaid money, investigators say.
