Summit Reinsurance Services Data Breach (2016)

Two subcontractors of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware were breached in an incident that has compromised 16 of the insurer's self-insured customers and about 19,000 of their members. The Delaware Department of Insurance disclosed the security breach Friday. Summit Reinsurance Services Inc., of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and BCS Financial, of Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, are the subcontractors that were breached. Karen Karen, director of privacy and information management for Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware, said the breach impacts almost 19,000 customers.
