Memorial Hermann Health System Data Breach (2015)

A patient presented herself at a hospital with a fake health member card. The hospital called police and she was arrested. In the process, the hospital released protected health insurance information to the police and the media. The hospital was sued and had to pay a settlement of 2.4 million.
