City of Madison Data Breach (2007)

A security breach on a city of Madison website that exposed 50 Social Security numbers for as long as five years has led the Madison City Clerk's Office to tell everybody who fills out an application there that too much information is not always a good thing. The breach was discovered Dec. 19 when a city employee discovered a Social Security number in a liquor license application that was posted on the city's legislative website.
